Steelbacks players began a the tour of primary schools in Northamptonshire in November, promoting the importance of sport to thousands of aspiring young cricketers, bringing the t20 trophy along with them.

The tour was started by Club Captain Stephen Peters visited Park Junior School in Wellingborough. This was the first of a number of visits the Steelback players will make to schools over the winter months.

Park Junior Head teacher David Tebbutt was very thankful and said, “The children and staff thoroughly enjoyed it and were very impressed by the presentation and what was said.  The school really appreciated all the support we received from Northants Cricket.”

Northants Cricket want to inspire healthy living in people of all ages and abilities across the community and encourage participation in cricket and sport in general.

Northants Cricket Chief Executive David Smith added, “We are keen to play our part in promoting healthy living and the importance of sport to children, and these school visits are just one of many initiatives to help increase the club’s profile in the local community.”
