David’s skill behind the stumps was soon apparent as he joined the Northamptonshire Academy in 2007 after representing Hertfordshire at age-group level. He graduated to the County’s first team in 2009 – whilst still studying at Loughborough University – and impressed many good judges with his glovework in all forms of the game during the club’s highly-successful 2013 campaign. That same year also saw him figure for the first time on the international stage with Scotland, for whom he appeared in eight ODIs and four T20 games. David returned to the County’s Championship team at the back end of 2015 and then made a dozen first-class appearances last summer, claiming 35 dismissals including five catches in an innings against Sussex at Arundel.
