In the ECB 40 League, the Steelbacks are in a competitive group that sees them take on the likes of Middlesex, Yorkshire, and the Netherlands. Whilst the promotion race in the LV= County Championship will see Northants take on talented sides such as Sussex, Worcestershire, Derbyshire and Surrey.
Head coach David Capel said of the fixture list: " We now have the fixture list in our hands and we are all looking forward to the 2010 season. We recognise there is an early start and finish to the season for us and the fans, which is due to the Champions League. We have a condensed start to the season with seven championship and six one day matches before the end of may, we then embark on an extended programme of 16 exciting Twenty20 matches which will include some great summer evenings playing under our new floodlights, plus a fantastic game against the Twenty20 World Champions, Pakistan. The players will be motivated about this prospect. The programme finishes with an extended run of championship and one day cricket and whilst this looks like a hard working and challenging prospect, we will be looking forward to maintaining and improving on the significant strides forward, in terms of performance and enjoyment during the 2009 season."
