To celebrate England's superb Ashes victory over Australia, the Ashes Trophy and replica urn will be arriving at the County Ground on the first day of Northants Cricket's vital LV County Championship clash against local rivals Leicestershire.
Northants Cricket would like to give as many people as possible the opportunity to see the Ashes Urn, hence entry to the first day of the Leicestershire LV County Championship match on the 23rd September is free to everyone!
The tour is part of the England and Wales Cricket Board's 'The Great Exhibition' campaign, which aims to inspire participation in cricket.
Visiting 10 counties throughout September, the MCC Ashes Trophy and Replica Ashes Urn visiting the grounds gives fans the opportunity to get up close and see the official replica urn that Andrew Strauss held aloft at the Brit Oval with the triumphant England team at the end of the npower Ashes Series. Also included in the exhibition is the Waterford Crystal trophy, commissioned by MCC and first presented to Mark Taylor, the Australian Ashes-winning captain in 1999.
Northants Cricket Chief Executive Mark Tagg said: "In what could be the most important game of our 2009 season, we would like everyone to come along and enjoy some fantastic cricket and see that famous little urn."
