Northants Cricket announce that Steven Crook and Ryan Cummins will be leaving the club at the end of the season, after not being offered new contracts.
All rounder Steven Crook was signed initially on loan, from Lancashire during the 2005 season and made the move permanent in 2006, meanwhile seamer Ryan Cummins joined from rivals Leicestershire for the 2009 season.
Steven has struggled with injury since joining Northants Cricket and the 26-year-old has suffered a difficult time of late with injury. 25-year-old Ryan has endured a back injury that has seen him appear just once this season. In both cases, both Ryan and Steven have found it difficult to get onto the cricket field on a consistent basis.
Head Coach David Capel said of their release, "It's a shame for these two smashing lads and for Northants that we haven't seen the best of these two talented players. It is unfortunate, but I'd like to wish both Steven and Ryan all the very best in their future careers."
Chief Executive Mark Tagg also commented, "Both players are outstanding professionals and it is a shame we didn't see them out on the County Ground field more often. Whatever they choose to do in the future, Northants Cricket would like to wish the pair all the best."
Steven Crook added, "I would just like to thank Ross Dewar and Barry Goudriaan for all their efforts in trying to get me back on the field over the last four years, and to everyone at Northants Cricket. It is very disappointing that the injuries have got the best of me."
