Derbyshire's first NatWest Pro40 match was a damp squib as rain prevented any play in the game against Northamptonshire.
Play under the Derby floodlights was due to start at 4.40pm but conditions were too wet for the 40-overs-a-side game to begin and steady drizzle kept the teams in the pavilion.
Umpires Jeff Evans and Nick Cook made several inspections but eventually had to call the match off at 7.45pm.
The washout means both teams take one point from their opening fixture in Division Two.
