Sportsmen and DJs among those set to walk over hot coals for charity
Two Northamptonshire County Cricketers and one local radio DJ will be walking across 20ft of burning coals at a temperature of over 1200 degrees Fahrenheit to support the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association.
The firewalk will be taking place at Northampton County Ground on 14 November and organisers hope that it will raise money to help support people diagnosed with MND.
The previous firewalking event, held at Northampton Town Football Club raised nearly £15,000 in sponsorship for the charity. This time, Northamptonshire County Cricketers Ryan Cummins and Lee Daggett will be leading the participants down the path of hot coals.
Lee Daggett said: ''I've actually got no idea how walking such a distance on burning coals is actually possible, but the fact that so many people have already managed it gives me a little more confidence.
"To be honest if I have to feel a little uncomfortable for a few hours then it is completely worth it because the whole evening is about MND Association and the work they do to increase awareness and support people with MND. If I can help this even in a small way then it can only be a good thing.''
Ryan Cummins also shared his feelings about the walk: "1200 degrees Fahrenheit! Are we mad? I'm really looking forward to this challenge which is unlike anything I have ever done before. It will be a true test of mind over matter."
BBC Northampton radio presenter Richard Savage who will be joining Lee and Ryan across the coals said: "I'll admit I'm not being very brave about it. However, BBC colleagues who clearly want to see me suffer have been gushing in their encouragement.
"But the truth is that doing a passable impression of someone fleeing from Pompeii and walking across hot coals at a temperature of 1400 degrees Fahrenheit is nothing when you think about the efforts made by people to live with MND and the help the Association provides them. It's a local charity we feel close to and it's an honour to be able to help, even by risking losing the soles of my feet!"

The registration fee for the event is £50, with a minimum sponsorship of £150. All participants must be 18 or over.
The events is free to watch, so come down, support the lads and have some fun...
