Academy batsman Nathan Hawkes hit his maiden Second XI Championship century as Northamptonshire shaded the honours in a draw against Kent at King's School in Canterbury.
Hawkes (101) and Mark Nelson (80) boosted the County to 256-8 declared on the final day- leaving the home side to chase 255 for victory in a minimum of 48 overs.
Jack Brooks snapped up four early wickets to leave Kent reeling at 36-4, and left-arm spinner Tom Brett then claimed 3-61 to keep Northants on top.
But the hosts were able to play out time and closed on 182-7.
