Northants Cricket has announced that Mark Nelson will not be offered a contract with Northants Cricket for the 2010 season.
The Milton Keynes-born all rounder has been on the Northants staff for the past two years. There have been limited first team opportunities during the 2009 and with the emergence of other younger players combined with a lack of consistent dominating performances in 2nd XI cricket, it means Mark has been unable to force his way into the first team regularly and this is a major factor to the release.
David Capel said of Mark's release, "I would like to thank Mark for all he has done for Northants Cricket. I have found him to be one of the most pleasant and likeable characters I've ever worked with in the game.
"Soon to be 23-years-old, it is now time for Mark to be playing 1st XI cricket consistently. Those opportunities are unlikely to come here in the 2010 season, so it is important that he has the chance to find that opportunity at another county.
"However, I am sure it is the right decision for Mark and for the club. I personally wish him every success for his future career."
Everyone at Northants Cricket wishes this popular and talented player the very best in his future career.
