Mark Nelson powered Northamptonshire to a six-wicket victory over Kent in Monday's Second XI Trophy match against Kent at King's School, Canterbury.
Nelson cracked an unbeaten 75 as the County made quick work of chasing 161 in 42 overs after rain shortened the game. They reached their target with 18 overs to spare as Nathan Hawkes (26) also contributed usefully.
An excellent bowling performance restricted the hosts to 160-9. Jack Brooks (3-34) and Steven Crook (2-29) proved the pick of the bowlers, while a couple of run-outs helped the County's cause.
The two team begin a three-day Championship match at the same venue on Tuesday.
