Northants cricket are delighted to announce the four contenders for the Steffans Jewellers' Player of the Year Award. The winner will be announced at Northants Cricket's End of Season dinner, this coming Monday. The four contenders, as chosen by a panel of judges, are Stephen Peters, David Lucas, Andrew Hall and Johan van der Wath.
Stephen Peters has enjoyed his most productive season in his first class career, and has scored over 1050 runs in the LV County Championship. His top scores have included 175 against Derbyshire and 163 against Glamorgan.
David Lucas has also enjoyed his best season in the domestic game, bagging over 50 wickets in the LV County Championship at an average of under 23. The highlight of David's season came at Cheltenham against Gloucestershire, where he took 7-24 in their second innings and 12 wickets in the match.
Andrew Hall has been in stunning form with both bat and ball, scoring over a 1,140 runs and taking 36 Championship wickets at an average of under 24. Andrew's achievements have been already acknowledged by the NCCC Supporters' Club, who also presented Andrew with their 'Player of the Year' award.
Johan van der Wath has been in devastating form with the ball, taking 46 wickets so far this season in the LV County Championship whilst drawing attention with his brutal match winning batting in the Twenty20 Cup.
The three other awards to be presented at the End of Season Dinner are the 'Frank Rudd Trophy' for the Young Player of the Year, 'The Lynn Wilson Academy Player of the Year' and 'The Frank and Doris Spokes Award for Clubman of the Year.'
