Northants host Middlesex at the County this week in the LV= County Championship. Northants will be looking to forget their last two LV=CC games and carry on the momentum they gained with their win in the NatWest T20 Blast on Friday.
Last week Northants travelled up to Trent Bridge to take on Nottinghamshire. Rain meant play didn’t begin until the second day - the game entered the final day looking like it would end in a draw, however former Northants player Ricki Wessels, Aussie Peter Siddle and Ajmal Shahzad all had other plans, as Northants ended up losing by an innings and 10 runs.
Middlesex have had a strong start to the season, sitting third in the table. In their last game they faced Lancashire at Lord’s, which they won by 10 wickets. Impressing with the ball was Neil Dexter and Tim Murtagh who took six wickets in the first and second innings respectively. With the bat, England International Eoin Morgan hit a century, whilst Dawan Malan fell just short of his century.
Middlesex will be bringing a strong squad with them to the County Ground, led by Australian Test opener Chris Rogers. Eoin Morgan is away on England duty so will not be playing; however pace bowler Steve Finn and opener Sam Robson will play and will be ones to watch.
New overseas signing, Ian Butler comes into the squad replacing Steven Crook.
Olly Stone also comes in, after missing the Nottinghamshire game due to injury.
