Forty-seven Northamptonshire residents have benefited from a life-saving organ transplant over the past 12 months thanks to the NHS Organ Donor Register.
Yet with less than 35% of the county’s population registered as donors, 146 people are currently on the waiting list. Sadly in the past year alone 10 people have died because no organ was available or could be matched.
To help raise awareness and increase registration, the I DOnate Campaign launches this week to take the message across the county at a series of summer events.
I DOnate takes residence at the County Ground on 27th June during the Steelbacks’ NatWest T20 Blast against Durham Jets pitching the crowd a sporting challenge.
Spectators who sign-up to the I DObowl challenge get the chance to grace the playing turf, bowling one cricket ball at one stump over the full 22 yards. Hit it and they’ll win a prize donated by our Campaign Partners - local businesses supporting our cause. Everyone who participates receives an #IDObowl sweatband and information pack.
The idonatecampaign.co.uk website launched this week for bowlers and Campaign Partners to sign-up. With one donor helping up to 9 people it’s one click that’ll have life-saving consequences.
