Northants Cricket, in association with the University of Northampton, are delighted to announce the Club’s first ever Schools’ Day. The Club would like to invite all schools in Northamptonshire and the surrounding area to what promises to be a brilliant day for all involved.
This exciting event will take place on Monday 14th July, during the third day of Northants’ LV= County Championship match against Somerset at The County Ground and will be free of charge to all schools who attend the event.
The days play will, as usual, start at 11am with the close of play likely to be at around 6pm. Of course though, schools are free to arrive and leave at whenever times are most convenient to them.
To enable us to plan numbers, we can offer each school free tickets for up 50 people (including staff and pupils) to attend the game. To help us run the day effectively, we recommend that schools bring one adult member of staff for every 15 pupils you are planning to bring. If you require more tickets than this, please contact us and let us know as soon as possible.
During the day, pupils will be able to watch the match from their seats in the stands and participate in a number of engaging and enjoyable activities that will teach them about cricket and give them the chance to experience the game for themselves in a safe and secure environment.
David Smith, Chief Executive of Northants Cricket has said, “It is so important that we make cricket as accessible as we can to young people and this is a great chance to bring in children who may never have been to The County Ground before. Today’s school children are the players, members and supporters of the future and therefore we must reach out in to the community and give something back”.
If schools would like to join us on this special day, the Club would be grateful if you could email firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible so we can provide you with further information and details of the day.
