Northamptonshire sealed a 32-run victory over Sussex in the Second XI Championship at Finedon - although not without a few anxious moments.
The County's lunchtime declaration on 167-8 left the visitors needing 256 to win in 64 overs. And with Maurice Chambers (4-45) reducing them to 136-9 it looked odds-on an early Northamptonshire success.
But Sam Grant (65) and Stu Whittingham (44 not out) shared a last-wicket stand worth 87, before Grant fell to leave Sussex 223 all out in the 51st over.
The seconds are back in action next week with four days of cricket away to Essex at Coggeshall.
