Club Vice-Captain Alex Wakely will host his very own radio show dedicated to the 100 year anniversary of World War One, on Friday 8th August at 8.20am on BBC Radio Northampton.
In the show, Alex will remember those who fought in World War One, in particular the former Northants players that fought and how the war affected the county as a whole. During the show Alex will talk to the club Chaplain David Chawner and Andrew Radd about the war and how it affected Northamptonshire.
Talking about the show, Alex said, “It was fascinating to learn about a subject that I didn’t know much about. It was humbling to hear stories of people from Northants Cricket, who gave their lives for the country and never had the opportunity to play another game of cricket.
I am hoping I will be able to go over to France very soon, to see some of the sites where we lost a lot of good men, such as the Battle of the Somme.”
