The Steelbacks’ Royal London One-Day Cup clash with Leicestershire Foxes at Grace Road, was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
Heavy rain throughout the morning left the outfield waterlogged, and umpires David Millns and Neil Mallender, had no alternative but to call the game off at mid-day. Both sides collected a point each from the game.
The washout was a big disappointment for Northants who have three more games to play, the first of them at home to Derbyshire today. But to have any real hope of qualifying from the group, they would need to win all three. They also have to play Lancashire at Old Trafford and finish with a home game against Essex.
