The Steelbacks make the long trip up to Manchester on Thursday as the side take on Lancashire in the Royal London One-Day Cup.
It is a must win fixture for the Steelbacks who are in eighth position in Group A with four points, whilst Lancashire sit bottom with three points and are now unable to qualify for the Quarter Finals.
The Steelbacks hosted Derbyshire at the County Ground on Monday evening in a rain affected encounter. The visitors won the toss, elected to bat first and made an excellent start – mainly thanks to a century from Wes Durston (108) that helped contribute to Derbyshire’s total of 211/6 from 32 overs.
In reply, the Steelbacks chasing an adjusted D/L target of 227, lost the early wicket of Kyle Coetzer but Richard Levi (62) and Adam Rossington (26) helped rebuild the innings for the hosts. The Steelbacks lost wickets in quick succession which brought Andrew Hall (43) to the crease and the thirty nine year-old played nicely along with James Middlebrook (24) took the game into the final over of the game. Middlebrook hit a maximum off the penultimate ball of the over, with six needed off the final ball to tie – only for Middlebrook to be bowled the next ball meaning Derbyshire had won by six runs.

Lancashire have been poor form in this year’s Royal London One-Day Cup, by their own standards but Karl Brown has been in excellent form in the one day format. The right-handed batsman has hit two half centuries and a century this year for Lancashire, averaging 64 for his side.
Brown played for Lancashire against the Steelbacks earlier this season in the NatWest T20 Blast and hit 46 off 38 balls helping his side to a total of 187/3.
The Royal London One-Day Cup game against Lancashire at the Emirates Old Trafford starts at 14:00.
