Steven Crook was the winner of the Northants Cricket Cake Off sponsored by Oliver Adams on Thursday evening, during the interval of the Steelbacks vs. Essex Eagles Royal London One-Day Cup match.
Crook took on Northants Cricket Chairman Gavin Warren, Steelbacks fan Gilly Frost and Head Groundsman Paul Marshall in the Cake Off.
After Oliver Adams’ senior cake decorator showed the contestants how to decorate the sponge cake, they had 15 minutes to show off their decorating skills.
In what was a tight contest, despite Steven Crook being the last to finish, he proved it’s not about how fast you finish, but about the quality.
Crook was adjudged to have won by Northants Cricket Chief Executive David Smith, Oliver Adams’ master baker Mick Hempstock and Oliver Adams’ senior cake decorator, narrowly beating Paul Marshall.
On the victory, Crook said, “I really loved it. Thank you to Oliver Adams, I will try and share the cake with the guys, if our Strength and Conditioning Coach allows us. Thank you to everyone for your support.”
