Northants Cricket announce that David Sales will undergo reconstructive surgery on his troublesome knee with a view to giving him the best opportunity to join the squad for pre season work in 2010.
This was disappointing news for the Club in respect of the remainder of this season but the medical team and David are sure that this is the right way forward to prolong David’s career and give him the best possible chance of continuing his prolific career with Northants.
David Sales said “after consultation with knee specialist Dr Andy Williams it was agreed that although I could possibly have played again this season with continued rehab and perhaps by wearing a knee brace, the longer term view was it could flare up again which would mean missing yet more cricket and possibly jeopardising my career”.
“I am now looking forward to scheduling the operation as soon as possible and working hard post op to get ready for 2010”.
David Sales previously had an ACL reconstruction operation in 2001 after suffering an injury on the West Indies tour with England A.
