Northants Cricket is delighted to announce that wicketkeeper batsman David Murphy and spinning all-rounder Con de Lange have both signed new deals with the club.
Con signed for the County last winter and has impressed in the one-day formats, leading the club’s wicket taking charts in the CB40 competition with 12 wickets at an average of15.6, and also in the Friends Life t20, with eight wickets at an average of 18.8.
David has enjoyed further appearances in the Northants first team this season, scoring 252 runs in 10 LV= County Championship appearances whilst also taking 23 catches. The wicketkeeper, who was recently called up to tour with Scotland, also made 13 one-day appearances this season.
David said of his new two-year deal, “I’m delighted to be staying at the County Ground. A lot of the younger players are signing up and hopefully we can all progress in the coming years, where we all want to work hard and bring success to the county. “
Head Coach David Ripley said of the pair, “Con’s one day form was very consistent and his professionalism around the squad is a valuable asset to us.”
“David took his opportunity when it was presented to him earlier this season, he has shown great skill up to the stumps and a ‘knack’ of building important partnerships down the order.”
