Northants cricket is delighted to announce that all-rounder James Middlebrook and seam bowler Luke Evans have both signed new contracts to stay at the County Ground.
James Middlebrook has put pen to paper on a new two-year deal after yet another successful season with bat and ball, and one that saw the spinner named as the club’s Player of the Year.
In the LV= County Championship, James scored 714 runs at an average of 39.7, including two centuries, and took 24 wickets at an average of 36.
James Middlebrook said, “I’m really pleased, it’s very nice to have signed knowing the club appreciates my efforts as a player and I am looking forward to another couple of seasons here, where I will continue to work hard to try and help the club achieve its aims.”
Seamer Luke Evans has signed a one-year deal after impressing the coaching staff in the latter stages of the 2012 season, taking 12 wickets in two matches at an average of 17.8, including best figures of 4-38 against Hampshire.
Luke Evans said, “I'm absolutely delighted to be continuing with Northants Cricket for another year after what has been a frustrating time for me over the last two seasons. It was such a thrill to have taken wickets in the championship matches I played this year and I'm hungry for more next year.”
It'll be an interesting few months and every new season brings new challenges but I'm sure if I and the rest of the squad express our skills in the right way, we can start to dominate and make the county proud of us."
Head Coach David Ripley said of the pair, “I am very pleased that James’ consistency has been rewarded. His all round game seems to be growing each year and he is the kind of senior player every dressing room wants.”
“Luke had an outstanding end to the season and we are all looking forward to him building on that, with the obvious attributes he has to become a top class bowler.”
