Northants Cricket interested in Australian Hussey for t20.

7th January 2013

Northants Cricket is looking into the possibility of signing of former Steelbacks favourite and recently retired Australian international Michael Hussey, with hopes he could be the club’s Friends Life t20 overseas signing for the 2013 season.

Hussey, a former captain of Northants, spent three hugely productive seasons at the County Ground from 2001, making 43 appearances for the club, and finished each of those seasons as the County’s leading run scorer.

In 2001, the Australian smashed 2055 runs in the LV=County Championship, and followed it up with 1379 runs in 2002 and 1697 runs in 2003.

Northants Cricket Chief Executive David Smith said, “This is a move the club is looking into as everyone knows Michael’s history with the County, and this adds weight to the fact that we would like to welcome him back this coming season.”
