Stone named as England U19's Captain after Thakor injury

Steelbacks youngster Olly Stone has been named as England U19's captain for the rest of their tour in South Africa.

England Under-19 captain Shiv Thakor has been ruled out of the current tour to South Africa due to a broken finger sustained in a practice match.

The Leicestershire batsman is expected to be out of action for up to six weeks and will be replaced as captain for the remainder of the tour by Northamptonshire's Olly Stone.

Jamie Overton has been released from the England Performance Squad fast bowling group to join the England Under-19 squad for the ODI series starting in February. Jamie has been a part of the England Development Programme for the last two years and played in last year’s U19 World Cup.

Thomas Alsop of Hampshire, a member of the EDP Under 17's group, has also been called up as a replacement batsman to the squad. Thomas was involved in the practice and training camps the England Under-19 squad attended at Loughborough prior to leaving for South Africa.
