Keogh and Spriegel shine for seconds

Rob Keogh and Matt Spriegel hit half-centuries as Northamptonshire cricketers dominated proceedings on the opening day of the Second XI friendly at Canterbury.

The joint Northants/Kent side dismissed Warwickshire for just 122 - and then replied with 167-2 at the close, leading by 45.

Darren Maddy and Steffan Piolet top-scored with 26 apiece for the Bears but the County trio of Lee Daggett (3-32), Ollie Stone (2-20) and Luke Evans (2-32) all tasted success with the ball.

Then Keogh (74) and Spriegel (50no) led the response on a thoroughly satisfactory day for the Northamptonshire contingent.
