Matt Spriegel maintained his consistent start to the season in Second XI cricket as Northamptonshire trounced Hampshire by eight wickets in Monday's Trophy contest at Southampton.
The County newcomer hit an unbeaten 75 off 87 balls - featuring ten boundaries - to steer the visitors to their victory target of 220 with a couple of overs to spare.
And Spriegel wasn't the only County batsman to shine. Rob Keogh (62) and Christian Davis (25) shared an opening stand of 46 in ten overs before Spriegel and Keogh posted 111 for the second wicket.
Then Ben Duckett weighed in with 41 not out from only 32 deliveries to settle the match in style.
Put in to bat, Hampshire slipped from 108-2 to 219-9 in their 40 overs - and it was trialist Richard Moore (2-17 off four overs) who started the slide by breaking a third-wicket partnership between Sean Terry (45) and Adam Rouse (46).
Lee Daggett and Muhammad Azharullah - with 2-53 and 2-33 respectively from their full eight-over stints - also enjoyed some success, while Luke Evans, Ollie Stone and Con de Lange picked up a wicket apiece.
The two sides begin a three-day Championship match on Tuesday.
