Christian Davis led Northamptonshire's last-day resistance as the County comfortably drew the Second XI Championship match against Hampshire at Southampton.
The 20-year-old all-rounder hit an unbeaten 170 - including five sixes and 19 fours - and shared an unbroken fifth-wicket stand worth 279 with Karanjit Bansal (100no) to guide the visitors to safety at 424-4, a lead of 163.
Beginning the final day on 23-0, the County reached lunch with only wicket down - Rob Keogh departing for 33 - but then lost Con de Lange (34), Matt Spriegel (57) and Richard Moore (2) in quick succession as 125-1 at the break became 145-4.
But Davis, who faced 184 deliveries, held firm with Lincolnshire-born Bansal, and when the latter reached his century the teams shook hands at 5pm.
The Second XI returns to action next week (May 6-8) with a three-day friendly against Leicestershire at Finedon Dolben CC.
