Northants Cricket can announce that captain Stephen Peters is set to miss up to six weeks of the 2013 season after suffering a broken finger.

A huge blow to the club’s batting attack, Stephen has been enjoying some good form with bat in hand during the County’s unbeaten start to the LV= County Championship, scoring 311 runs at an average of 51, including a top score of 106.

Head Coach David Ripley said of Stephen’s injury, “It’s disappointing to lose a player of Stephen’s quality – not only in terms of his batting capabilities at the top of the order, but also his leadership which has been excellent so far this season.”

“We wish ‘Pedro’ a speedy recovery.”
