Daggett impresses on tough day for twos

15th May 2013

Lee Daggett proved the pick of Northamptonshire's bowlers as the Second XI Championship match against Somerset at Taunton Vale finally got underway a day late.

Seamer Daggett claimed 3-53 from 21 tidy overs to restrict the hosts to 258-8 declared after the County opted to bowl first following Tuesday's complete washout.

Luke Evans (2-64 from 18 overs) and Con de Lange (2-36 from 17) were also on target - while for Somerset Alex Barrow (84) and Craig Meschede (59) took the batting honours.

The day then took a turn for the worse as Northamptonshire began their reply.  Two wickets went down in the first over, and de Lange was forced to retire hurt with 9 runs to his name.

Josh Tolley held things together with an unbeaten 25 and the County will resume at 42-3 on Thursday morning.
