Rob Keogh snapped up three important wickets as Northamptonshire's Second XI completed a 146-run victory over Essex in their Championship match at Stowe School on Friday.
Keogh (3-46) and Oxfordshire left-arm spinner Luke Ryan (3-25) joined forces with Lee Daggett (2-41) to dismiss the visitors for 204 with just a quarter-of-an-hour to spare, after each side forfeited an innings.
Essex had looked on course to at least save the game as they rallied from 58-4 to 159-4 - but their last six wickets then tumbled for just 45 runs.
Earlier, Northamptonshire declared on 350-9 with overnight pair Ollie Stone (117) and Daggett (52) departing in the chase for quick runs.
That left Essex needing 351 in 86 overs - and the County had just enough time to seal an excellent win following the loss of the first day to rain.
The seconds are back in action nedt Monday (June 3) with the start of four days' cricket against Surrey at Campbell Park in Milton Keynes.
