Everyone connected with Northants Cricket was sad to hear of Leon Barwell's death on Friday morning.
The son of Keith - a former committee member at Wantage Road - Leon passed away aged 46, following a long and brave battle with cancer.
He stepped down as chairman of Northampton Saints rugby club just a few days ago because of ill-health - having joined the board of directors at Franklin's Gardens in 1999.
Leon was influential in many of the major developments at the Saints in recent years, as well as being a successful businessman in his own right.
Northants Cricket and Northampton Saints enjoy close ties - with many supporters in common - and everyone at the County Ground would like to offer sincere condolences to Leon's family and friends at this very sad time.
