LV= CC Match Preview: Northants v Lancs

Northants travel to Old Trafford this week for a crucial LV= CC game which sees the top two teams in the division square off.

After a strong start to the season for Northants, they currently have a 33-point buffer over pre-season promotion favourites Lancashire. A strong batting performance last week against Leicestershire didn’t reap the rewards it deserved, as rain affected play on all four days, which led to a draw. The stars of last week, Kyle Coetzer who scored a career high 219 and Andrew Hall who scored his third century of the season with 103, will be looking to continue that form this week.

Lancashire had a very impressive performance last week to close the gap on Northants as they beat Essex by an innings and 105 runs. This performance included bowling Essex out for just 20 in the second innings, the lowest score in championship cricket since 1994.

There are no changes to starting eleven from the team that started against Leicestershire last week. Graeme White and Muhammad Azhar Ullah are also named in the squad and could play depending on conditions.

Once again Alex Wakely will lead the team in Stephen Peters’ absence.
