Wicketkeeper Gary Knight was Northamptonshire's batting hero in a remarkable Twenty20 finish at Chelmsford on Wednesday.
Chasing 152 to beat Essex in the first of two matches in the Second XI competition, the County looked out of it at 139-6 with just two balls remaining.
Knight hit the penultimate delivery for two runs - and then cracked a no-ball to the boundary to add six more to the total.
And the final ball disappeared for six to give Northamptonshire an extraordinary four-wicket success.
Still buzzing from that win, the seconds came down to earth with a bump in the second match - dismissed for only 81 in reply to the home side's 169-4, losing by 88 runs.
Northamptonshire return to action in the T20 on Friday with two matches against Middlesex at Bedford School.
