Lee Daggett and Tom Lancefield were Northamptonshire's stand-out performers as the County suffered a double ddefeat in the Second XI Twenty20 competition against Middlesex at Bedford School on Friday.
Lancefield - released by Surrey last year - top-scored with 34 in Northamptonshire's 100-6 from 16 overs in a rain-shortened opening match.
Middlesex wasted no time reaching their target at 102-1 with 19 balls to spare, thanks to Adam Rossington (47) and Sam Robson (44no) - with Daggett picking up the only wicket to fall.
The seamer then snapped up 3-12 in the second game - backed up by Vicram Sohal (2-25) and Lancefield (2-30) - to help dismiss the visitors for 131 despite 46 from John Simpson.
But that turned out to be plenty as Northamptonshire stumbled to 109 all out in the 18th over, going down by 22 runs. Lancefield again (30) and Luke Blackaby (31) made useful contributions with the bat.
The County return to duty in the same competition against Unicorns 'A' at Wantage Road on Wednesday June 26.
