Ian Harris' blog -The County roll on

Well we are still top of the league in the County Championship and currently third in the Yorkshire Bank 40. So things are still looking good even though we have lost to Lancashire on which it looked like it was a good bowling pitch and toss to win!

The one concern for me at the moment is the mount of injuries we are getting the latest being a fracture to the finger of Steven Crook which means with the T20 about to start, being out for two weeks will be a big blow for us.

He is the man in form with both bat and ball and his style of aggressive play is ideally suited for the shorter style of the game.

At least with the number of injuries I have totalled 8 players out as I am writing this.  Thankfully the lads that are coming in are all stepping up to the plate. Lee Daggett has bowled well, along with the very pacy Mohammed Azhar Ullah, and the young Ben Duckett with the bat are all doing their bit to keep us in touch in both competitions.

At times like this you need to hope that the full use of your squad pays dividends. Let’s just hope that all of those players that are struggling with injuries come back sooner rather than later. I would like to mention my own personal thanks and contribution to Trent Copeland who has now departed back to Australia. What a great competitor and gentleman, and of course what a signing!

What more can I say about him that hasn’t already been said. Not only did we get a great bowler but his batting and slip fielding was excellent as well. For me he is up their as one if the best overseas signings since Mikey Hussey. Let’s just hope he can come back to us at the end of the season which will be an added bonus for the team.

At least it's nice to see Cameron White  back with us at the county ground. He was an excellent signing last season and was a stand out player for us in which was a disappointing campaign for the Steelbacks. As well as an attacking batsman, he brings a good option of spin to the party, let’s hope for much of the same this season. Wouldn't it be great if we could challenge on all three fronts with a good T20 campaign.

There’s been some great cricket at the moment for everyone connected with the club especially us supporters to see the team spirit so good this season. As I mentioned earlier with a good winning mentality and good team spirit amongst the players could this be our season to finally win something or at least get to a final.

As long as we don't get any more injuries, I think like the two competitions, we have already played in we could have a good T20 comp this year. Let’s hope that the Northants band wagon keeps going this season, because as a supporter it's a pleasure to watch. Come on you steelbacks!
