Kettleborough steals the show

James Kettleborough stole the show with a superb century for Northamptonshire's Second XI in their four-day friendly against Derbyshire at Derby on Tuesday.

The 20-year-old hit 145 off 246 balls - including 21 fours - as the County reached 260 all out, conceding a first-innings deficit of just nine runs.

Kettleborough received some useful support from a couple of Academy players with Matthew Plater (21) sharing a fifth-wicket stand worth 79 before Vicram Sohal (25) helped him add a further 67.

Going in a second time just before the close, Derbyshire's openers posted 50 in ten overs without being parted - giving the hosts a lead of 59 with all second-innings standing at the game's halfway point.
