Northants rename Hospitality Boxes

Northants Cricket is delighted to announce the renaming of three of the Lynn Wilson Centre hospitality suites to honour three former greats of the County’s history.

The refurbished suites have been renamed after Northamptonshire and England players, Frank Tyson, Peter Willey and David Steele.

Regarded as one of the quickest bowlers ever and nicknamed ‘Typhoon Tyson’,  Frank played in 244 first class matches for Northamptonshire, taking 767 wickets at an average of 20.8  and played 17 Tests for England, taking 76 wickets at 18.6.

David Steele appeared in 416  matches for Northants, playing also for Derbyshire and Leicestershire, scoring over 22,000 runs in his career. He also featured in eight tests for England scoring 673 runs at an average of 42. David was named as the BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 1975 and Wisden Cricketer of the Year 1976.

Peter Willey played for Northants between 1967-1983 before moving to neighbours Leicestershire. Peter played for Northants in 319 matches, scoring over 24,000 first class runs and 11,000 One Day runs, plus 756 first class wickets and 347 one day wickets. For England, Peter featured in 26 Tests and 26 ODI’s, scoring over 2,500 runs in the test matches.
