Seconds beaten in run-chase

Northamptonshire's Second XI suffered a six-wicket defeat in their friendly against Scotland's Development XI at Wantage Road on Thursday.

Set a target of 310, the visitors got there for the loss of only four wickets - thanks to a superb opening stand of 206 between Ross McLean (108) and Hamish Gardiner (90).

Imran Quayyum claimed 2-70 wiith a wicket apiece for Luke Evans and Usman Arif.

Resuming on 172-0, Northamptonshire declared at 236-1 when James Kettleborough reached a 198-ball century.  Rob Keogh had earlier departed for 114 from 183 deliveries.

The seconds face Gloucestershire at Dunstable in a one-day Trophy match next Monday (July 29) before the two sides meet in a three-day Championship fixture at Campbell Park on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
