Will Tavare - nephew of former England batsman Chris - hit an unbeaten century for Gloucestershire on a rain-shortened second day of Northamptonshire's Second XI Championship match at Campbell Park.

Tavare's 101 not out guided the visitors from 22-0 overnight to a declaration at 240-5 after the weather ruled out any cricket before lunch.

Former County staff man Tom Brett - now back at Finedon Dolben CC - claimed 2-47 with his left-arm spin while Bedfordshire's Colin Griggs (2-26) also impressed.

Northamptonshire then lost Stephen Peters (29) and James Kettleborough (4) in their second innings before the close, but Rob Keogh and Christian Davis saw the County through to 58-2 when the bails were lifted - a lead of 137 with eight wickets standing and a day to go.
