The Steelbacks will host Kent in the Yorkshire Bank 40 at the County Ground tomorrow in what is a must win game if the Steelbacks are to have any chance of making the Semi-Finals. The game sees second place take on third in Group A, with Kent currently one point ahead of the Steelbacks with 12 points from 9 games.
Last time out the Steelbacks travelled to Nottingham to take on group leaders Nottinghamshire Outlaws, in what was always going to be a tough test. Despite an excellent half-century from Captain Alex Wakely who scored 59 from 52 balls, the score of 205 for 9 was not quite enough, as Alex Hales scored 75 to lead Nottinghamshire to a 6 wicket victory.
Kent are currently in a strong position to get the best runner up spot to qualify for the Semi-Finals with 3 games remaining. Last time out Kent travelled to New Road to take on Worcestershire. An opening partnership of 182 with Northeast scoring 93 and Key scoring 112 proved enough as Kent ended on 289 for 6. In reply Worcestershire fell 39 runs short as they were bowled out for 250.
The last time these two sides met at Tunbridge Wells in June, a century by captain Alex Wakely and 88 by Rob Newton who had to retire injured led the Steelbacks to a total of 263 for 4. Four wickets by Trent Copeland limited Kent to 234 all out, meaning the Steelbacks won by 29 runs.
