The Steelbacks will host Netherlands on Thursday in another crucial Yorkshire Bank 40 clash here at the County Ground. The Steelbacks need to win this match as they chase a Semi-Final berth via the best runner-up spot from the group stages.
Yesterday the Steelbacks hosted Kent in a second versus third place match up in the group. Kent won the toss and elected to bat first. But thanks to three Steven Crook wickets, the Steelbacks limited Kent to 188 for 7, with Kent having Geraint Jones to thank who scored 46 not out from 52 balls. In reply, the Steelbacks left it late reaching the target with 2 balls to spare, to win by 5 wickets. A 142 run partnership between Kyle Coetzer who scored 90 and Cameron White who scored 65, led the Steelbacks run chase.
The Netherlands have struggled during this Yorkshire Bank 40 campaign sitting sixth in the group with two wins from eleven; although three of their games did end in a no result due to rain preventing play. Last time out Netherlands travelled to Hove to take on Sussex Sharks and really struggled. A 64 from wicket keeper Wesley Barresi led the Netherlands to 185 all out; however Sussex chased the total down with ease in less than 22 overs to win by 9 wickets.
The last time these two sides met in the Netherlands, the match had to be abandoned without a ball being bowled, meaning the Steelbacks left with just one point.
