Northants Cricket can officially confirm that plans have now been finalised to celebrate the success of the Steelbacks who have been crowned the new Friends Life t20 Champions.
On the evening of Friday 27 September there will be a victory tour through the streets of Northampton on an open top bus and a civic reception at the Guildhall for the players and staff at Northants Cricket.
Due to personal commitments of a number of the players the original proposal to hold the celebrations on Saturday 28 September has been changed.
The event will be a chance for supporters to join the Steelbacks at the end of a fantastic season.
Councillor David Mackintosh, Leader of Northampton Borough Council said: “When we were told that a number of the players had personal commitments on the original date we were more than happy to bring the celebrations forward a day. I am sure everyone will understand that the end of the season is the perfect time for us to honour the players, but the players have also had to put their own plans on hold until after the last game. So we have found a date that works for everyone.
“The players are enjoying a great year, and there could be more silverware before the season ends. The event will be a chance for fans to celebrate with the team and show how proud we are of our Steelbacks. I am sure everyone will want to come into Northampton town centre on Friday 27 September to cheer our champions.”
Full details of the route and timings will be announced nearer the date, including how supporters at Franklin’s Gardens will be able to see the triumphant Steelbacks as the Saints are also playing at home that evening.
