Northamptonshire drew with Sussex at the end of an absorbing final day's play in the Second XI Championship match at Horsham on Thursday.
Left to score 242 in a minimum of 55 overs - and with no time lost to the weather, in contrast to the first team's frustrating experience at Colchester - the County closed on 213-8, only shutting up shop when the eighth wicket fell.
Josh Tolley top-scored with 49, four batsmen (James Kettleborough, Matt Spriegel, Luke Blackaby and Christian Davis) all got into the 20s and 15-year-old Saif Zaib impressed again with an unbeaten 39 including a couple of sixes and five fours.
Earlier, Sussex had moved from their overnight 181-2 to a declaration just after lunch on 352-5. Ben Brown (104) completed his second century of the match while Luke Evans picked up a couple of wickets.
The seconds are back in action next Wednesday (August 28) when they start a three-day Championship match against MCC Universities at Desborough.
