After securing promotion from Division Two of the LV= County Championship, this year’s Friends Life t20 Champions can celebrate one of the most sensational seasons in the club’s 135 year history.
Northants have been promoted to Division One for the first time since 2004, after Essex were bowled out by Hampshire for 207, so failed to get the maximum bonus points they needed to stand a chance of gaining promotion.
This caps off what has been arguably the greatest season in the club’s history, after winning the Friends Life t20 in August. This is more than well-deserved for the team, as Northants have been in the top two since April.
The promotion is the perfect reward for all the hard work the coaches, led by David Ripley and players put in over the winter, to bounce back from last season. Northants have been one of the best all-round teams in the division. Only Lancashire have scored more bowling points in Division Two and Northants have scored the most batting points out of all of the teams, from both divisions.
The team will be celebrating their amazing year on Friday. They will have an open top bus parade before having a civic reception at the Guildhall. They will also parade the Friends Life t20 trophy during half time of Northampton Saints v Sale Sharks. For more information visit northantscricket.com/parade.
You will be able to celebrate with the team at the End of Season Dinner. Tickets will cost £35 for members and £60 for non-members. To book, contact Lee Griffiths at email@example.com.
