David Sales Agrees New Contract

Northants Cricket is delighted to confirm that batsman David Sales has agreed to a new one year contract. On signing his new deal, David Sales said, “I'm very pleased to sign another year with Northants and looking forward to the challenges ahead in the 2014 season.”

Sales has had yet another excellent season for the club, as he fell just short of a thousand runs, scoring 919 runs in the LV= County Championship. The 35 year old has been a long time member of the Northants dressing room, having made his debut for the club in 1998, when he became the youngest player to score a double century. Sales has scored over 14,000 first class runs for the club at an average of just under 40, which includes 29 centuries.

Northants Head Coach David Ripley said, “I am delighted to have David with us as we look to establish ourselves in Division One. His class and experience will be vital. He hit the ball well all year but found ways of getting out in the first half of the season, he could easily have registered a 1200 run season and I believe he is capable of that number in Division One next year.”

Chief Executive David Smith said, “I am delighted that David Sales has signed a new one year contract his experience batting at number three will help the club in Division One of the County Championship next season.”
