On Monday the Steelbacks had the amazing opportunity to train with Northampton Town. The training session was led by Cobblers Manager Aidy Boothroyd, who put the likes of Stephen Peters, Alex Wakely and Head Coach David Ripley through their paces.
The guys got the chance to show their footballing skills in a number of drills and had a penalty shoot-out against the Cobblers players, in which they came close to winning. The squad said they thoroughly enjoyed the experience and it was a great day.
David Ripley, “It was a brilliant day and all the lads had a great time. Thank you to Aidy and every one at the Cobblers for their warm reception and making the day happen. Good luck for the rest of season.”
Strength and Conditioning coach David Sutton pointed out how this training session helps the squad, as they prepare for the 2014 season. "During the winter it is important to both include some variety in training and look to other methods whilst continuing to work towards our goals. Linking up with Northampton Town allowed us to both share best practice with the backroom staff, as well as provide the players with a demanding but highly enjoyable training session. It was great to see the interaction between the Northamtpon Town and Northants Cricket players."
