Durham, Northants and Somerset head the list of winners at the ECB’s BOCA awards night

ECB today announced the winners of the ECB's annual Business of Cricket Awards (BOCA) which were held at The Cumberland Hotel in London last Thursday night.

The awards, which are designed to celebrate Marketing and PR excellence across domestic and international cricket, were attended by representatives of all 18 First Class Counties and the MCC together with guests from the wider sports industry.

Durham, Northants and Somerset were the biggest winners of the night winning two awards each with Durham’s haul including the prestigious Team of the Year award. Northants were awarded for best Friends Life t20 Matchday Experience, and best YB40 promotion. The Club were also nominated for Best use of Digital, Best t20 campaign and Team of the Year.

Northants Chief Executive David Smith said of the awards: "Obviously we’re delighted and it’s the first time we’ve won any of these awards. We were nominated in four different categories and to win two of them is a great achievement.

“We know that our main business is what goes on on the field and the players deserve a lot of credit for a successful year but we’ve got a good support team off the field and they deserve to be recognised every now and then.

ECB's Managing Director of Global Events and Marketing Steve Elworthy said: "This season’s awards once again highlighted how strong the bond is between the counties and their fans and what a difference innovative and creative marketing campaigns can make to attendances in our county game – particularly around the domestic t20 competition which saw many sold-out matches.

“As always, our judging panel have had a really tough task and we thank them for bringing their expertise to bear in such a competitive field. We also warmly congratulate our award winners, plus all the entrants for their hard work and creativity over the past year in producing a fantastic summer of cricket in 2013."
