Northants Cricket is delighted to announce that Club Captain Stephen Peters has signed a new two year deal.
The opening batsman led the County to promotion in the LV= County Championship in his first season as captain, scoring 735 runs at a superb average of 52.5, including 2 centuries and 5 half centuries.
A consistent performer for Northants since his arrival at the County Ground in 2006, Peters has notched up over 13,000 first class runs at an average of 36, scoring 31 centuries during his 13 year career.
Stephen Peters said after signing, “I am absolutely delighted to have signed a new contract with Northants as last year was superb for all involved with the club. I’m proud to have played a part in that success and look forward to helping the club progress even further in the next couple of years.”
Head Coach David Ripley added, “Stephens influence on last year’s success was immense, he has the respect of everybody in the dressing room, from senior players to debutants. I look forward to working with him, building on last year’s promotion, as we prepare for life in Division 1. With an average of 40 plus since he joined the club, he’s not too bad opening the batting either!”
