Northants Cricket is delighted to announce that the club have been named as winners of the 2013 Sport Social Media Index County Championship Division Two Team of the Year, which was published by UMPF partnered by William Hill.
The social media index consisted of a league table of 148 British professional football, rugby, and cricket teams, ranked according to the best use of social media on their official club channels.
The table was compiled, measuring the performance of each team based, not just on an algorithm, but research from nine experts looking at eight social networks, with a panel of four judges presiding over the results. Scores were based on the areas such as customer engagement, community growth and content posted, with penalties for social media malpractice.
After a fine year, Northants Cricket came away with an index rating of 49.5%, which topped the 2013 Division Two counties, as well as being the sixth best county in cricket. This high rating placed Northants 71st out of all the 148 sports clubs, with Tottenham Hotspur being ranked number one out of all clubs. In comparison to the other Northampton sports clubs, Northampton Saints ranked 78th with 49.2% and Northampton Town ranked 116th with 44.2%.
With plans already in place to improve our social media channels in 2014, fingers crossed Northants Cricket will be ranked higher this time next year.
