Alex’s auction raises £2800 for Charity


Steelbacks captain Alex Wakely has helped raise £2795 for charity Help for Heroes after running a week long Twitter auction.

Supporters bidded on many items including T20 Finals Day shirts, hats and a Winner’s medal, the medal alone raised over £750, which went to a loyal Northants fan.

Other items to be auctioned included David Willey’s finals day bat and training shirt, plus various playing shirts from James Middlebrook, Andrew Hall, David Murphy, Nicky Boje and Monty Panesar.

Alex Wakely said of the auction on Twitter, “Thank you to everyone who bidded on the auction. You will certainly have helped @HelpforHeroes change the lives of our Heroes.

Well done everyone, you raised £2795 for @HelpforHeroes. I am proud to be associated with them and proud of everyone for helping. Thank you”
